K9 Fundraiser

Help Support the Purchase and Training of a new K9 Unit in Storm Lake
The Storm Lake Police Department has had a successful K9 program for almost 20 years now and in May 2011 the most recent dog, Findy,to serve in this capacity was retired.

The cost of purchasing a new dog and providing for officer training is approximately $12,000 of which the City of Storm Lake and the Storm Lake Public Safety Department is asking for the communities help through a local fundraising effort, similar to past fundraisers for previous K9 partners.

The Storm Lake K9 program is operated outside of the regular Storm Lake Police Department budget and doesn't rely on property tax dollars to ensure the programs success.

Storm Lake's K9 is trained for building searches, suspect apprehension, crowd control, drug detection, and recover of lost children and adults. The program has had great success in Storm Lake over the past 20 years.
