Downtown Facade Grant 2013

Project Overview
The Storm Lake Downtown Façade Revitalization Project will help provide a facelift to downtown buildings along the 500 & 600 blocks of Lake Avenue. The project will improve the front facades to buildings that choose to participate. Building owners will work with the architects to determine the improvements that will occur to the downtown buildings.
Improvements to buildings may include but are not limited to the following:
Window/Door Repair or Replacement
Awning Replacement
Painting
Masonry Work
Tuckpointing

Project Budget
This project is funded in part by a generous grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).

CDBG Funding $500,000
City Contribution $100,000
Property Owner Contribution $215,000 (estimated based on 30% contribution)


Key Project Highlights
July 15, 2013 City contracted with Simmering – Cory Inc. to provide grant administration for the project
August 19, 2013 City approved grant agreement and contract with Iowa Economic Development Authority for the CDBG Downtown Façade Revitalization Project
September 16, 2013 City contracted with RDG Planning & Design to provide the design services for the project
November 6, 2013 RDG met with available business owners to go over project design and estimated costs
January 8th, 2014 RDG met with business owners to review project details and estimated costs
