Lawn Mowing

For Immediate Release:

For more information contact:       Keri Navratil

With abundant moisture and warmer temperatures, how quickly grass and weeds can grow is amazing.  Green grass and leafy trees are a welcome change from the stark, colder days of winter.

Remember that city code requires trimming of grasses and weeds as follows:

"It shall be the duty of the responsible party to keep the premises free of all said conditions and to promptly remove and abate same, which include but are not limited to the following declared nuisances:

Weeds or grasses allowed to grow to a height greater than eight (8) inches on the average, or any accumulation of dead weeds or grass that are exposed to public view, on any non-farm property.  This provision shall not apply to prairies, wetlands, or similar area of naturalized perennial vegetation which are certified by an Enforcement Officer to not constitute a nuisance."

The City will continue to be Storm Lake Proud by working to mow public open spaces as well as park areas. We encourage the public’s cooperation to maintain private properties in the community.

Being Storm Lake Proud is not one day, one week, one month or one event.  Being Storm Lake Proud is a magnificent lifestyle!
