The City is very aware that situations like this are unpleasant and quite annoying to say the least.
We are working diligently to find an option that is viable and can be implemented to resolve the issue in the best manner possible. It appears at this time that landfilling the dead fish may be the likely option. Solutions for getting the dead fish to the landfill are being considered. We are also in discussion with the Buena Vista Solid Waste and Recycle Center as to how this option may be implemented.
Early this morning, the Public Services crew worked diligently to pick up dead fish along the shoreline next to the parks in the community. While approximately a ton of dead fish were collected along the shoreline, dead fish still remain in the lake.
The City is appreciative of the assistance from the DNR and Buena Vista Solid Waste in their assistance and guidance as we continue find viable solutions to this issue. The public’s patience and understanding is also appreciated. More information will follow when available.
