Mayor Mike Porsch Expresses Concerns Regarding COVID-19
Positive cases of COVID-19 are on an alarming rise nationally, statewide and locally. The concern for our community is foremost on the mind of Mayor Mike Porsch.
"Over the past 14 days our COVID positivity rate is at 23.2% with 94 new cases over the weekend. That is the definition of a community spread virus. As a community we can do something to change it. Quarantine at home if you are sick or have tested positive. If you are not positive wear a mask when you go out in public and stay 6 feet apart from other people. Avoid social gatherings of over 15 people unless you wear a mask or can social distance,” urged Mayor Porsch today.
“Further, if you do not want to do this for yourself, do it for the health care workers who risk their health to take care of you. Or the city workers, public safety, fire department who need to stay healthy to serve you. Or our kids who want to go to school and learn about the world they live in and their teachers. Or your neighbors because that is who we are in Storm Lake. We are a Community of Character willing to sacrifice some of our personal freedoms to make our community a safer place to be in this COVID Pandemic,” emphasized Mayor Porsch.
Exercise caution by using social distancing methods and face coverings as required by guidelines of the Iowa Department of Public Health. Caution at work and at home are both equally important in keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
