The Chautauqua Park Shelter House is located in Chautauqua Park.  It is divided into two sections that can be rented individually or together on a daily basis.  Each side contains a kitchenette, picnic tables, a common restroom, and a shared patio.  For reservations check the calendar for availability and contact City Hall between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm or call 712-732-8000 to make your reservations.

Rentable Shelter

The Chautauqua Park Shelter House can be rented up to a year in advance of the rental date. A rental agreement needs to be completed and the rental fee paid prior to the reservation being put on the calendar. A damage deposit is also required prior to use. Rental is from 7:00 am to 10:00 pm the day of the rental only. Reservations can be made at City Hall between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm and by calling 712-732-8000. 

User Rules

  • No driving or parking on the grass
  • No sitting or standing on tables
  • No crepe paper pinatas allowed
  • No smoking
  • No kegs of beer
  • No garage sales
  • No for-profit rental
  • Clean up and remove any trash from the facility (trash may be placed in the Park Dumpster located south of the Park Maintenance Facility)
  • If shelter house is damaged upon arrival call 749-2525
  • Return key to City Hall (or drop box) same day as rented

Rate:

Chautauqua Park Shelter has an east and west side available for rent from 7 am to 10 pm.

  • $110 fee per side plus a damage deposit of $200 per side 

Cancellation Policy

The City of Storm Lake has in effect the following refund policy for renters of the Chautauqua Park Shelter House:

  • Cancellation at least 3 months in advance of the rental date renter would receive a 50% refund on their rental fee and 100% refund on their damage deposit
  • Cancellation within 3 months of the rental date the renter will receive no refund on their rental fee and 100% refund of their damage deposit
