1. Why does the City use this online auction site instead of sealed bids?

While the City has had some success in sealed bid auctions in the past we are utilizing the GovDeals web site to sell surplus items now to provide a fair and secure manor of conducting auctions. This option will also allow for increased number of bidders on some items while allowing for less potential of misplaced and misdirected bids.

2. Can I bid by submitting a bid directly to the City?

No, all bids must be placed through the online web site via an registered bid registration on that site (www.govdeals.com). This ensures that the rules are the same for all biders and allows bidders to see where the bid is currently and to watch the item closer. It also eliminates the opportunity for lost and misplaced bids.
