To construct a fence requires a building permit. A fence can be placed on the lot line, but you will need to know the exact location of your lot lines. The Buena Vista County Assessor's office would have the dimensions of your lot, but to ensure the exact location of the lot lines a survey of your property would be necessary.Building Official
Interior lot fence requirements include:- May not exceed four-feet in height in the front and side yards
- May not exceed seven-feet in height in the back yard
- Decorative side must face the adjoining neighbor’s property
