[ARCHIVED] Storm Lake Proud Week set for May 8-13

Proud Week

The final event of Clean Up Week will begin in Sunset Park on Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m.-noon.  Everyone is invited to come to the park and work together to show what being Storm Lake Proud means.

 

Tasks to be completed during Storm Lake Proud Week include:

 

Painting park benches

Painting picnic tables

Cleaning up debris in the parks

Mulching trees/plantings in the parks                                                             

Sealing wood sculptures                                            

Washing art lighthouses

Cleaning ditches around the golf course

Cleaning up the Discovery Center

Picking up trash along the railroad – Dorinda to Memorial to Lakeshore

Clean up 13th and Magnolia area

Clean up water way near Memorial Ballfield

 

   Volunteers should dress appropriately for outside work, including closed-toe shoes and gloves.  Registration for volunteers will be set up at a picnic table in Sunset Park. Bags and other supplies will be provided.

 

   Groups interested in longer term projects – such as adopting a park, beach, stormwater feature or downtown planter – are also welcome. Contact Kim Woltman at 712-732-8029 for more information. Other ideas for betterment projects are welcome.
