For a $5 donation (to benefit Upper Des Moines Opportunity charity), Storm Lake residents may drop off unwanted items at the Public Services yard, 433 Vilas Road, on this date only. Items accepted include furniture, push mowers, car batteries, grills, carpet, glass and other bulky home items. There will be an additional $5 charge for disposal of appliances, water heaters/softeners, air conditioners, TVs, computer monitors and passenger vehicle tires (no rims). A loaded pickup plus a loaded trailer will count as two loads.
Items that cannot be accepted include yard waste, paint, propane tanks, junk vehicles or parts, toilets, sinks, tubs or ceramic fixtures, construction materials and semi or tractor tires.
