Site Selection magazine, which bills itself as ‘The magazine of corporate real estate strategy and area economic development’ recently named Storm Lake as one of the top 50 micropolitan areas in the United States. The ranking is based upon the number of new projects or plant expansions that result in either $1 million investment, 50,000 square feet of new space or that create 20 new jobs.
“We are thrilled that Site Selection magazine has recognized Storm Lake in this way” said City Manager Jim Patrick. “With our great workforce, progressive existing industries and exceptional quality of life we understand why companies want to locate or expand here. The City is proud to be a partner in business development.”
The U.S. Census Bureau defines a micropolitan area as a rural county whose largest city does not exceed a population of 50,000.
Site Selection magazine is read by over 44,000 corporations looking to expand or for new locations.
