Two City of Storm Lake water wells have unexpectedly gone out of service, as of Monday, March 17. Repairs will be made as soon as
necessary parts arrive. In the meantime, all users of City water will need to conserve until further notice to ensure that there is enough water for everyone with a reserve in the towers for firefighting needs.
A Level 4 Declaration of Water Emergency requires the following:
The City Shall:
• Eliminate all street flushing (except for emergencies)
• Eliminate sewer flushing (except for emergencies)
• Eliminate hydrant flushing (except for emergencies)
• Eliminate washing City vehicles.
• Eliminate fire flow tests and fire training.
• Eliminate use of fountains
• Eliminate lawn sprinkling on City Property and ballfields.
• Issue municipal infractions for violators
Storm Lake Water Users Shall:
• Eliminate all lawn and flower bed watering.
• Eliminate filling outdoor swimming pools.
• Eliminate car washing.
• Eliminate water for cleaning driveways and sidewalks
• Eliminate use of fountains
• Automatic car washes will be asked to shut down or cut back on production
City officials request that residents and businesses do their part to conserve in the homes and workplaces during this emergency period.
