[ARCHIVED] Dredge Pipe Installation

The City of Storm Lake will be moving dredge piping to the lake for the beginning of the dredging season on Wednesday morning, April 11, 2012 beginning around 8:00AM in the morning and running through 5:00PM in the afternoon.

During this time crews from the dredge will be moving the pipe across Sunrise Park Road near the campground boat ramp. The process will cause Sunrise Park Road to be closed for short periods of time.

Persons using this route are encouraged to use an alternative route during this time and to avoid the area if possible. The City of Storm Lake will be placing road closed signs ahead of the closure during the closure period.

With the beginning of the dredging season boaters and watercraft operators are encouraged to use extreme caution when boating in the northeast portion of the lake.

All boats and personal watercraft devices must maintain a 100 foot distance from the dredge, booster pump, and all dredge pipe at all times.

Boaters are reminded that they should never try to cross over the dredge pipe or go between the dredge and the shore at any time while on the lake.

Additionally, if boaters find themselves inside the area of the dredging operation they should reduce speeds and move away from the dredge operating area immediately.

The City apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the cooperation of the community during this time.
