[ARCHIVED] 17 block parties planned for SLPD’s National Night Out

National Night Out will be celebrated in Storm Lake on Tuesday, August 5. The Storm Lake Police Department has assisted in organizing 17 block parties around the community for this year’s event. National Night Out is an annual campaign that promotes a positive relationship between residents and law enforcement, as well as encouraging a sense of community among neighbors.

  Everyone is invited to attend a block party near them. Get to know your neighbors, and learn how to help keep Storm Lake a safe place for all.

 

Here are the block party locations for August 5th:

  • 13 Vista Drive (driveway), 6-8 p.m.
  • 300 block of W. 8th Street, 6-8 p.m.
  • 1700 Shoreway Road, 6-8 p.m.
  • 1500 N. Seneca Street (The Reserves office area), 6-8 p.m.
  • 1200 block of Erie Street, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • 201 Sunrise Park Road (The Breeze), 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • 1300 block of Lochedem Drive, 6-8 p.m.
  • 1300-1400 block Park Street, 6-8 p.m.
  • Condos parking area near Chautauqua Park Drive, 6:30-8 p.m.
  • 1100 block of Ontario Street, 6-8 p.m.
  • 320 E. 2nd Street, 6-8 p.m.
  • 900 block of Evergreen Avenue, 6-8 p.m.
  • 1 S. Windsor Circle, 6-8 p.m.
  • 500 block of Larchwood Drive, 6-8 p.m.
  • 300 block of Ontario Street, 6-8 p.m.
  • 3000 block of Leona Drive, 6-8 p.m.
  • 1105 Emerald Drive, 6-8 p.m.

 

  Storm Lake Police DepartmentStorm Lake Fire DepartmentBVRMC ambulance crews and City of Storm Lake officials will be stopping at the events to visit with the public. They will share safety tips, help residents to be aware of what is happening in their neighborhoods, and remind everyone of how to report issues to their local officials when needed.

  Storm Lake and its Police Department have participated in the National Night Out program since 1990, joining communities nationwide in working to create safer, more caring places to live.

  The National Night Out movement has grown over the years to include more than 17,000 communities in all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases. About 40 million neighbors have taken part in the gatherings to date.

  Block parties can range from the simplest lawn-chair gatherings to more elaborate cookouts or potlucks with children’s events included.
