[ARCHIVED] City accepts applications for council vacancy

oud (3)

The Storm Lake City Council will be accepting applications from qualifying residents interested in serving on the council.

Current council member Meg McKeon has resigned from her position effective December 31, after being elected as mayor-elect in the recent City/School voting. Councilperson McKeon will assume the mayor’s seat at the start of the new year.

After discussion during the Nov. 17 council meeting, council members agreed to fill the soon-to-be vacant council seat by appointment rather than taking on the expense of a special election. The term for this seat will be for two years.

Persons interested in serving can find and submit an application form online: https://stormlake-services.app.transform.civicplus.com/forms/24788 or scan the QR code to access the form. A printed copy of the form is available at City Hall, 620 Erie Street.

Completed application forms must be submitted by noon on December 10, 2025.
