The Storm Lake Public Safety Department announces the 2012 schedule and locations for their Summer Neighborhood Outreach Program.
The Neighborhood Outreach Program began last year in an attempt for the Public Safety Department to go into residential areas and interact with citizens during a time when officers are not on location for the purpose of handling a call for service. The program is designed for citizens to meet with and interact with public safety staff in order to expand and enhance communications and information sharing.
Similar to last year staff from city administration will also be joining public safety personnel in order to share information and answer questions on a variety of city related projects and program.
Public Safety Director Mark Prosser says, “We’re pleased to have city administration join us again this year and we’re excited that a variety of social service agencies who serve on the Buena Vista County DEC Committee will be spending time at the outreach locations also.”
Last summer Storm Lake Public Safety hosted three evening outreach events and this summer that number will increase to seven evening events. The schedule and locations are as follows:
Thursday, May 31, 2012 12th and Erie
Thursday, June 7, 2012 1600 block of Tulip Lane
Wednesday, June 20, 2012 Leona and Meadow Lane
Tuesday, July 17, 2012 Awaysis Park
Thursday, July 26, 2012 East 1st Street and Cayuga
Thursday, August 9, 2012 700 block of West 8th Street
Wednesday, August 15, 2012 Oates and 5th Street
All the events will take place from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
Once again the Outreach Program will include police and fire vehicles and the mobile command vehicle will be on location to provide office space for citizens who would like to meet privately with public safety personnel or other city staff.
