[ARCHIVED] 2012 National Night Out

Storm Lake Public Safety announces that plans are underway for the 2012 National Night Out which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7, 2012.

The City of Storm Lake will be joining communities and jurisdictions across the United States, Canada and at American Military bases around the world to participate in the 29th Annual National Night Out.

National Night Out was developed to encourage citizens to go out into the neighborhoods and streets and get to know one another and at the same time commit to each other that all citizens will be the eyes and ears for local first responders in reporting crime, suspicious activities and other safety related incidents and hazards.

Storm Lake Public Safety is asking local citizens to step forward and host neighborhood block parties in order for neighbors to meet neighbors. Police, fire and other first responders will visit the block party events on the evening of August 7th and share crime prevention, fire prevention and other safety information while at the same time encouraging citizens to stand together in keeping their neighborhoods safe by reporting crime and suspicious activity.

National Night Out Coordinator, Lt. Ray Eickholt states, “Our NNO Team is already contacting our former block party hosts to see if they’ll consider hosting a gathering again this year and I strongly urge anyone who is considering hosting a block party or wants more information on National Night Out to contact me at 712-732-8010 or email me at eickholt@stormlake.org. The citizens of our community have always been very supportive and involved in this event.”

For more information on the 2012 National Night Out Events contact the Storm Lake Public Safety Department at 712-732-8010.
